Thank You for the Support
I apologize for my absence over the last while. It seems I am perpetually falling behind, and I am sort of all over the map nowadays, but wanted to take a moment to share my gratitude and some updates.
Part of the reason I am not as active on DA is that I have been branching out. I have my own Facebook page, I started an Instagram account and I spend a lot of time looking for photo contests to enter or opportunities to showcase my work and I am working on my third calendar. I haven't stopped taking photos either, so I guess it goes without saying I spend a lot of time going through the photos I take. Long story short, my hands are not idle.
Staycation
I hope everyone has enjoyed the Holiday Season, and I wish you all a very Happy New Year's. I am in the midst of a two-and-a-half week holiday. As I am sure you can tell by the influx of uploaded photos over the last week, I am using my time to pursue my passion (while relaxing in the best way I know how).
Prior to my time off, I was asked by a colleague what I planned to do with my free time. The conversation went something like this:
"Any plans for your time off?"
"Go birding and take lots of photos."
"That's it?"
"That's not enough?"
"Surely you can't spend the whole time taking photos."
"That sounds like a challenge."

Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival
This weekend I attended the 19th Annual Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival for the second time. This is no exaggeration, as there were over 7,000 eagles counted in 2010 alone. There are several sites that offer viewing opportunities of the eagles. Two of the sites have rehabilitated raptors that you can see up close.
The day itself was great! It was a crisp, beautiful autumn day and there was not a cloud in the sky. The Fraser River was higher this year than the first time I went, s
The Road So Far...
I joined DA one year ago. I have been told over the past few years that I should consider pursuing photography as something more than a just a hobby, but it took me a while to realize the people saying that were not just being polite. Out of curiosity, I started musing over the possibility they could be onto something. A year ago, an artist I know suggested I join deviantART and she figured becoming a deviant would help me. I had little idea what to expect, and I certainly was not prepared for what has been my experience thus far. I never would have imagined the support my fellow deviants have given me. Whether you have added my works to your
